A Vertigo Remake?
Should anyone bother to remake an Alfred Hitchcock movie? It’s been done before, of course — perhaps most famously when Gus Van Sant helmed a shot-by-shot remake of Psycho. But I imagine most cinephiles scoff at the idea of someone remaking Hitch’s work.
Which probably means folks are likely to be up in arms about this news: a Vertigo remake is in the works. Robert Downey Jr. might star in said remake, and while I love me some RDJ, I think this is probably a bad idea. Vertigo is so wrapped up in Hitchcock’s own neurosis that remaking it feels pointless, unless they find a big sicko to direct. I guess we’ll see!
The news about the Vertigo remake is just one story waiting for you in this Friday edition of the /Film newsletter.
