Let Guillermo del Toro Make At the Mountains of Madness, You Cowards
Guillermo del Toro is a filmmaker with a long list of unmade projects. He was attached to a Haunted Mansion movie once — it didn't happen. He was supposed to direct a Halo adaptation. Nope, that didn't happen either. Other titles that never came to pass: Justice League Dark, a new take on Frankenstein, another Hellboy movie, and many more.
But perhaps the most-famous unmade Guillermo del Toro movie is At the Mountains of Madness. At one point, del Toro was planning to make a big-budget, R-rated adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft novella with Tom Cruise in the lead. Alas, this, too, joined del Toro's list of unrealized projects. But he's never given up on the film, and he's talking about it once again — this time in the form of a stop-motion animated pic. And that's one of the stories for you in the latest /Film newsletter.
Have You Heard the News?
Guillermo del Toro is open to the idea of making a stop-motion version of At the Mountains of Madness. It's worth noting that del Toro isn't saying he's actually making the film — just that he wants to. And someone should let him do it! C'mon. Give the people what they want.
The Sylvester Stallone series Tulsa King had a big premiere, ratings-wise. In fact, it was even bigger than the premiere of the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon.
You can now watch Laura Hasn't Slept, the short film that inspired the horror hit Smile.
Yep, there's a new Transformers movie — Transformers: Rise of the Beasts — and it now has a trailer.
