The End of Netflix Discs, Fast and Furious 11, The Mandalorian, Godzilla vs. Kong
It’s the end of an era: Netflix is discontinuing its disc-by-mail service on September 29. When Netflix first burst onto the scene with this option, it became a huge game-changer — you could order movies and have them shipped to you! By mail! The move essentially destroyed Blockbuster Video and video stores in general, and eventually, Netflix would move on to introduce streaming options.
Now, streaming will be all that’s left. It’s kind of a bummer, primarily because the disc options are a lot more varied than what Netflix currently offers, streaming-wise. So if you’re one of the few people still using the Netflix physical disc option, enjoy it now, because soon it’ll be gone for good.
That story is waiting for you in the latest /Film newsletter along with more of that great slash film dot com content you crave.
