The End of Westworld, Hello The Crown Season 5, Goodbye The Crooked Man
I sure do hope you folks had a nice weekend. But like all good things, the weekend has come to an end, and a new week is upon us. Which means it's time to fire up a fresh week of that ultra-hip /Film Newsletter content. Yes, all of your neat friends will think you're really "cool" if you tell them you've been reading this newsletter.
In this issue of the newsletter, Westworld rides off into the sunset, The Crown season 5 spells bad times for the old royals, Smile continues to scare up big box office bucks, and much more.
Have You Heard the News?
Here's some big news that isn't entirely surprising: HBO has canceled Westworld after 4 seasons. The series started off as a big deal for the network, but viewership has steadily dropped, and so has the quality. I myself gave up on the show after season 3, so I'm not entirely shocked this happened.
But it's not all bad news! It turns out the main Westworld cast will still be paid for season 5, even though season 5 isn't happening. Good for them.
James Gunn is running the show (alongside Peter Safran) for the DC Universe, and he took to social media to talk directly to the fans about what to expect going forward.
The horror movie Smile continues to be a huge hit. I'm not a big fan of the movie, but I am a fan of the genre, so I'll take this as good news.
Speaking of the horror genre, it looks like The Conjuring spin-off The Crooked Man is no longer happening. Bummer.
There are at least four Avatar sequels planned, including the upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water. But director James Cameron says he can wrap the story up in three movies if he has to.
There's a brand new trailer for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

Video of the Day
Bloopers – they're not just for modern movies! Here's a video that features over an hour of bloopers from films from the 1930s and '40s. There's something very charming about watching these long-gone stars lose their composure and yell "Aw, nuts!" at the camera as they flub their lines.
